Are You Missing Teeth?
If you are missing a tooth, or multiple teeth, come visit our Lupo Family Dentistry office, where our dentist can give you a complete smile makeover with dental implants! Dr. Nick Lupo is experienced in both the implant placement and implant restoration processes, and he can both embed the implant into your jawbone so that it functions like a regular tooth and create a stunning implant restoration that looks and feels natural so you can enjoy your fully restored oral functions and a beautiful new smile! Call our team at 480-690-9638 to talk with one of our friendly team members and schedule your personal dental implant consultation with our dentist. We are excited to get you started on your journey to complete dental health and beauty.
What Are Dental Implants?
Dental implants are cutting-edge and versatile dental restorations that can be used to fill the place where a single tooth, several missing teeth or even a complete arch of teeth once were. Unlike other prosthetic replacement options, implants are stabilized and secured in place by an implant post that can last for several years, even an entire lifetime, if properly taken care of. The implant process occurs over the span of two or more visits with a trained dentist, with each of the two sections being placed during separate appointments.
Dental Implant Post
The dental implant post, which is placed during your first visit following your implant consultation, consists of a titanium screw that is surgically placed directly into the jawbone where your missing tooth was located. The post replaces the entire missing root of the tooth and makes for a stable foundation for the new tooth. After surgery, there is often a required period of healing so the biocompatible dental implant post can bond with the jawbone.
Dental Implant Restoration
Following your healing period, our dentist will place a dental implant restoration, or replacement tooth, which fits on top of the implant post, finishing your new smile and protecting your implant from damage and decay. The type of replacement you receive will depend on your dental needs, how many of your teeth were missing and where those missing teeth were located. Our dentist will likely recommend a dental crown if only one tooth is being replaced, while an implant-supported bridge or partial denture may be more appropriate for multiple missing teeth, and a full implant-supported denture is the best option for replacing an entire dental arch. Whatever the case, we will custom make your implant restoration so it fits your smile perfectly, providing comfort and stability, and we are happy to schedule follow up appointments following placement if you notice any adjustments need to be made after using your implant in your day-to-day life.
Why Choose Dental Implants?
There are many benefits to replacing missing teeth, and it is vital to maintaining your overall oral health. When a tooth goes too long without being replaced, the bone surrounding the now missing tooth can begin to deteriorate in a process called jawbone resorption. While bridgework and dentures can fill the space left by a missing tooth, preventing unwanted misalignment and restoring the appearance of your smile, they do not offer jawbone stimulation. Because implants restore the tooth root as well as the crown, filling the void of the lost tooth roots in the jawbone in order to prevent bone loss, they are one of the best possible options for restoring missing teeth in the long run.
Am I a Good Candidate for Dental Implants?
Almost everyone is a good candidate for dental implants so long as they are missing one or more of their teeth. While some patients may need to undergo preparatory treatments before their implant can be placed, such as tackling periodontal disease or strengthening their jawbone with a bone graft before placement, our team is happy to design a custom treatment plan that helps each patient achieve a beautiful new smile with dental implants at Lupo Family Dentistry.
For a tooth replacement that is explicitly designed to look, function and feel just like your natural teeth once did, call or visit our office to schedule a consultation and learn more implant dentistry and how it can benefit you and your smile.
